What is the personal exemption amount and how will it affect my order?Updated 3 days ago

The personal exemption amount refers to the maximum monetary value of products you can import into your country without being subjected to additional duties, fees, and taxes. 

For Canada, the personal exemption amount is only $20. 

Eight Ounce Coffee has covered these customs while importing into Canada, so Canadian customers only pay for the product and shipping. 

As of August 29, 2025, the U.S personal exemption amount (or "de minimus") of $800 was removed. This means that all orders made through Eight Ounce Coffee and shipped to the U.S., regardless of value, will be subject to duties, taxes, and clearance requirements

All applicable import duties and taxes are calculated during checkout, based on the most recent updates to U.S. tariff policies. 

Please note that Eight Ounce Coffee is unable to compensate any subsequent fees accrued as a result of customs.
